How to Cut an Oversized T Shirt

Gather your materials.
You will need an oversized T-shirt, a pair of scissors, and a sewing machine. If you do not have a sewing machine, you can hand-sew the shirt.
Decide how much of the shirt you want to cut off.
Oversized t-shirts can be both comfortable and stylish, but sometimes they are just too big. If you have an oversized t-shirt that you want to make smaller, you can do it yourself with a few simple cuts. All you need is a sharp pair of scissors and a little bit of time.
To start, put on the shirt and decide how much of it you want to cut off. Mark where you want to make your cuts with a piece of chalk or a fabric marker. Then, take the shirt off and lay it down on a flat surface.
Using your scissors, cut along the marks you made earlier. Be sure to cut slowly and evenly for best results. Once you have finished cutting, try on the shirt again to make sure it fits the way you want it to. If necessary, you can always trim off more fabric.
With just a few simple cuts, you can turn an oversized t-shirt into something that fits better and looks great!
Try on the shirt and mark where you want to cut it.
First, try on the shirt to get an idea of where you want to cut it. Once you have a general idea, use a fabric pen or a piece of chalk to mark the spots on the shirt where you’ll be cutting.
Next, take off the shirt and lay it flat on a cutting surface. If you’re using scissors, be sure to use a sharp pair that will give you a clean cut. If you’re using a rotary cutter, make sure the blade is sharp as well.
Once your cutting tools are ready, start cutting along the marked lines. If you’re using scissors, make sure to cut slowly and evenly for best results. For a rotary cutter, hold the fabric tight with one hand while you cut with the other.
After you’ve cut along all the marked lines, try on the shirt again to make sure it fits the way you want it to. If not, make any necessary adjustments and re-cut as needed.
Cut the shirt.
Start by cutting the shirt in half. If you want to keep the sleeves, cut them off now. If you’re cutting the sleeves off, cut along the seem. If you’re leaving the sleeves on, just cut straight across the body of the shirt.
Next, lay one half of the shirt down on a flat surface. Fold it in half so that the front and back of the shirt are touching each other. Cut along the fold to create two identical halves.
Next, lay one of your halves down on a flat surface and smooth it out. Fold one side of the shirt over to meet the other side in the middle, and then fold it over again so that you have a long strip that’s about 4 inches wide. Cut along the fold to create a long strip of fabric.
Finally, take your long strip of fabric and cut it into 4-inch squares. You should now have a bunch of small squares that can be used to make T-shirt yarn!
Hem the shirt.
1.Turn the shirt inside out and lay it flat on a table or the floor.
2.Fold up the bottom hem of the shirt to the desired length. For a cropped look, fold up about 4 inches (10 cm). For a longer, tunic-style shirt, fold up about 6–8 inches (15–20 cm). Use a ruler or measuring tape to make sure the fold is even all the way around.
3.Pin the fabric in place.
4.Sew along the pinned line with a sewing machine or by hand. Remove the pins when you’re finished.
5.Try on the shirt to make sure it fits how you want it to. If it’s too long or too short, you can always sew another line higher or lower than your first one.
