Download a video editing app
To cut a video on your iPhone, you’ll need to download a video editing app like iMovie, Splice, or MoviePro. These apps range in price from free to $5. Once you’ve downloaded an app, open it and import the video you want to edit. Most apps will allow you to select a portion of the video to save as a new clip.
Import the video you want to edit
To get started, open the Photos app and find the video you want to edit. Tap the video to open it, then tap Edit in the upper-right corner.
If you don’t see the Edit button, it’s likely because your video is too long; iOS limits videos to a maximum of four minutes. In that case, you’ll need to use another app to trim your video down to size before you can edit it on your iPhone.
Once you’re in the editing interface, tap and hold on either side of the video timeline at the bottom of the screen. You’ll see white vertical lines appear on either side of the timeline; these are called Trim handles.
Trim the video to the desired length
Open the Photos app and find the video you want to edit. Tap Edit in the upper-right corner of the screen, then tap the video you want to edit.
Tap and hold on either side of the white timelines at the bottom of the screen, then slide your fingers inwards or outwards to trim the video to your desired length.
If you want to remove a section from the middle of your video, tap and hold on the center of the timelines and slide your finger to one side. This will create a new split point. Then, drag either side of that split point to trim out that section of your video.
Save the trimmed video
Once you finish trimming your video, tap on the Done option in the top right corner of the screen. This will bring up a save dialogue. Here, you have two options:
Save as new clip: This will save the trimmed section of the video as a new clip in your Photos app.
Replace original: This will replace the original video with the trimmed version.
You can also tap on the Cancel option to discard your changes and start again.
